Apple Watch Series 7: Most advanced chronometer in 2021

Two weeks ago, Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 7 featuring a larger display, with 33% faster charging and an easier to use interface that is connected to all the apps on your phone. You can track your health, record workouts and swim with it.

So, what are the new exciting features that come with the Apple Watch Series 7?

Most advanced display

This watch has the most advanced display to date. The display was totally re-engineered with reduced bezels to give 20% more screen area than the Series 6 and 50% more than Series 3. Apple Watch Series 7, paired with WatchOS 8, features a modified design with softer, more rounded edges and a distinctive refractive edge on the display that enables full-screen watch faces and apps that fluidly integrate with the case’s curvature.

The larger display means that it is easier to use and read. You will no longer be squinting to see Lidl offers this week, or to read your recipe of the week from BBCgoodfood. Buttons are also larger for apps like Calculator, Stopwatch and Timer and for the first time, Apple Watch features a QWERTY keyboard with QuickPath and predictive text for easier texting and note taking.

Apple Watch Series 7 also comes with an Always-On Retina display that is 70% brighter than series 6, making it much easier to see the time or other information without touching the screen or raising your wrist.

Faster Charging, Water and Dust resistance

Sporting a crack resistant screen that Apple calls the “strongest front crystal ever”, the Series 7 is dust and water-resistant. It has an IP6X certification and WR50 water resistance, making it durable for harsh environments and swimming.

Unlike other watches in the series, Series 7  is the first watch with a fast-charging feature. It charges 33% faster than Series 6, and 8 minutes of charging can provide 8 hours of sleep tracking.

Health tracking and Apps Galore

Apple Fitness+ contains workouts of all types. It is regularly updated with workouts ranging 5 to 45 minutes; from HIIT to Yoga, Pilates and more.

The sensor and software in Apple Watch Series 7 helps keep track of blood oxygen levels. It allows you to take readings at any time and has the option for background readings during the day or night. The sensor also allows for ECG readings; it can produce the same ECG as a single-lead electrocardiogram, which makes it easier to provide data for the wearer and doctors. The electrodes used to read your heart’s electrical impulses are also able to alert you of any health issues like irregular heart rhythm.

Apple Watch Series 7 also has a mindfulness app that helps with meditation, or real-time breathing exercises, complete with guides and animation. Apple Fitness+ has been updated with new audio and video-guided meditation for themes like gratitude, calm or kindness.

The Sleep app not only tracks sleep but respiratory rate as well. The app also helps in creating schedules and a bedtime routine to aid in reaching sleep goals.

 The cellular life companion

There is a host of options for customisation with the watch. A personal watch face can be created, with widgets suited to you. If you are into cycling or hiking, you can see weather conditions at a glance. You can also use the Map app, a guide that makes getting to your destination easier. Gentle pulses from the Taptic engine alert you when it’s time to turn left or right.

With a cellular option available, anything you can do with your phone, you can do with the Apple Watch Series 7 on the move. You can leave your phone at home and still see notifications, take calls and text a friend. The Wallet app enables you to board your plane and pay for almost anything.

Style and Design

The watch comes in three materials – titanium, stainless steel (at a premium), and 100% recyclable aluminum with a choice between Green, Blue, (Product) Red, Starlight and Midnight. Series 7 is still compatible with the best Apple Watch bands, and this year there is the option to buy new designs from brands like Nike and Hermès.
